Interview: Eugene Bareman on why he joined W2W!
Eugene, every time I walk through the door of City Kickboxing I get greeted by World Champions. Now, you are about to give a new group of people the opportunity to follow in their footsteps! Tell us about W2W.
I have the privilege of partnering with W2W, the company that runs the fantastic Warrior Training Program. The program is a well-known fitness course that has been around for a while, and I managed to get a license to run it in New Zealand. The program aligned perfectly with my goals which are to get more people into the gym, increase the number of New Zealanders training Martial Arts and show people who think the sport is not for them that Mixed Martial Arts is for everyone! I looked at what W2W was offering, and I thought it was a fantastic way for anyone to go from a zero to a hero!
How long is the program and what does it entail?
It runs for 20 weeks. I’m not going to lie, it is a tough 20 weeks, you have to work, but it is a fantastic journey that will give you the skills, knowledge and the fitness needed to get in the cage and compete in a Mixed Martial Arts Bout.
Why did you decide to Partner with W2W?
I’ve always been an advocate of everyone competing at least once in a Mixed Martial Arts bout. Personally, I think it’s one of the greatest endeavors you could ever embark on. The feeling you get by making the walk and competing against someone else in a Martial Arts competition is truly remarkable, regardless of whether you win or lose. This feeling is something you will only ever get to experience through Martial Arts competition, and the Warrior Training Program is such a wonderful way for everyday men and women to experience that feeling and achieve a goal that very few people in the world do!
Who can benefit from the program?
Many people find themselves in a rut, whether it be mentally or physically, that they struggle to get out of. The Warrior Training Program is the perfect opportunity for those people to find motivation in fitness, exercise, and nutrition. When they join the program, they will be surrounded by likeminded people who will push them to become the best versions of themselves. I believe when these men and women experience the benefits of practicing Martial Arts, they will continue to do so for life!
How does The Warrior Training Program motivate these people?
Nothing motivates you more than knowing at the end of the 20 weeks, you will step into a cage and put it all on the line against a fellow Warrior! When you know that your opponent is training everyday to beat you, it motivates you to do the same!
Do you need to have Martial Arts experience or certain physical attributes to get involved?
The program is open to everyone, you do not have to be an athlete to join. We are looking for people who want to change their life, who want to turn a corner, get out of a rut, and achieve something few people on earth do!
Can people try this program before they commit to the 20 weeks?
Yes! The program offers a free trial class, everyone is welcome to come to this class. Here, they can get a feel of the program and see if it is the right fitness program for them!
The opportunity to come and train in City Kickboxing will be a big incentive for many people! Will they get to interact with the stars of the gym during the program?
Of Course! They will be training in the gym, they will get to meet myself, my fighters, and they’ll get to train under the same coaches who trained guys like Israel Adesanya and Junior Fa to stardom! Part of the reason I’m running this program is because I believe the coaches in my gym are some of the best in the world, and if I can give everyday men and women access to these coaches, I believe it is a recipe for success for them!
